Welcome Abhijata

It was an honour and a delight to welcome Abhijata Iyengar to lead our convention this year: 2024. Her last visit to teach us in person was in 2014. Then Abhijata was planning to lead our 2021 UK convention, but due to the pandemic she taught her convention that year online.

Abhijata is the granddaughter of BKS Iyengar, and co-director of the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, founded by BKS Iyengar in 1975.

Abhijata, an inspiring and dynamic teacher, who led a range of live classes, talks and conversations over three days.

As one of the most experienced teachers at RIMYI, Abhijata has been involved with the practice and philosophy of yoga since the age of 16. She has been taught by her grandfather, Yogacharya BKS Iyengar, as well as her aunt, Geeta, and uncle, Prashant. She travelled with BKS Iyengar to Russia and China for conventions and also joined Geeta in conventions in the UK, Australia and the USA.
