Midland Counties Iyengar Yoga are delighted to be welcoming Bobby back to teach three special days of Yoga. Bobby lives and teaches in New York and travels extensively supporting Iyengar Yoga around the world. She is the author and illustrator of two books and “Yoga Yantra’ a short animated frilm based on the movements of BKS Iyengar.
This 3 day event includes:
How yoga can reduce stress, increase concentration and improve educational success.
Active restorative sequence: Depression is a disease of the emotions and mind as well as the nervous and endocrine systems. Lift your chest to elevate your emotions, lead your mind to a lighter state and create room for prana to move freely around the heart area.
Props: Awakening Intelligence: Working with Props: Props both inform us and ground us, holding the body secure and providing needed support. Experience the possibilities the props can unlock within the body in both familiar and lesser known set-ups.
Propping Your Back Bends: When practicing the backbends, holding patterns can often prevent us from stretching the entire length of the front body or connecting to the mysterious intricacies of the back body. In this workshop we will use props to provide the support necessary to fully lift the chest and opening our internal space.
Toward Padmasana – This requires flexibility in the hips, knees, and ankles. We spend most of our time sitting on chairs, losing the agility to sit comfortably on the floor cross-legged. To help guard against stiffness and immobility we will practice the fundamental actions that promote the health of the hip joints and learn how to keep the knees safe.
Pranayama – said to me the controller of the mind. The practice aerates the lungs, removes phlegm, gives endurance, soothes the nerves and tones the entire respiratory system
