About North East England Iyengar Yoga

We are a thriving group of qualified Iyengar teachers running regular yoga classes, workshops and courses in the North East of England. We were founded in 1978 and are one of the oldest member groups in the UK with many teacher and non teacher members.

We regularly organise special events, bringing highly experienced visiting teachers from both the UK and the home of Iyengar Yoga in Pune, India, the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI). Our most senior teacher and founder – Margaret Austin – continues to teach regular classes for our members and has also taught at two IY(UK) conventions.
