Cathy has been teaching Iyengar® Yoga for 37 years. She has been certified to teach at Senior Intermediate Level III for 17 years. Cathy is also an approved Iyengar teacher trainer and assessor and trains new teachers worldwide. An Iyengar student since 1977, Cathy has studied directly with Sri B.K.S. Iyengar, Geeta S. Iyengar and Prashant S. Iyengar. During this time, she has attended the Iyengar Institute in Pune India, close to 20 times.
Cathy Rogers Evans
Born in England, Cathy moved to live and teach Iyengar Yoga in San Diego, California between 2002 and 2012. As a result, she now teaches classes, workshops, teacher’s training courses and instructs as guest teacher at conventions in the United States, Mexico and England. She particularly enjoys training teachers to reach the required level for higher certification.
Cathy is a highly attentive and careful teacher who instructs with enthusiasm, encouragement and joy. Her style of teaching enables her students to achieve what they previously would never have imagined they were able to do.
Randall Evans
Randall is an Intermediate Junior III Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. He began teaching Yoga at the University of California, San Diego where he graduated with a Masters in Fine Art in 1992. Over the years Randall has studied directly with B.K.S. Iyengar, his son Prashant S. Iyengar and his daughter Dr. Geeta S. Iyengar at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India.
Randall teaches yoga with clarity, insight and calmness. His intention is to enable students to reach their potential as human beings. One of Randall’s favourite descriptions of Iyengar Yoga comes from an interview with B.K.S. Iyengar: “I just try to get the physical body in line with the mental body, the mental body in line with the intellectual body, and the intellectual body with the spiritual body so they are balanced. It’s just pure traditional yoga, from our ancestors, from our gurus, from Patanjali.”.
Randall is particularly inspired by the transformational quality of Iyengar Yoga. Indeed, the Iyengar method is a complete approach to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual transformation. One that is made accessible to all by the use of skillful instruction, props, and when needed modifications of postures and individual adjustments. Practicing the postures and breathing with awareness develops harmony. This unifies the mind, body and spirit and helps us to realise our true nature.
For this reason, Randall carefully incorporates Yoga philosophy into his teaching. This adds further depth, interest and completeness to each of his classes.
