IY(UK) no longer permitted to use the word ‘Institute’
13th November 2018
IY (UK) no longer permitted to use the word ‘Institute’.
We have recently heard from Companies House that ‘Institute’ is a protected word and cannot be used without permission. We have accordingly changed ‘Member Institutes’ to ‘Member Groups’; the Member Groups themselves have also had to take the word ‘Institute’ out of their names. This is a shame as the term ‘Institute’ has a long history in the Iyengar community and is a reflection of the title of RIMYI, our mother institute in Pune (whose name we are still allowed to use). However, we must comply with UK law, which is why we are having to make these changes.
