  • I first started Iyengar Yoga classes in 1995 to escape from a very busy demanding job, it was the only way to find some quiet 'me' time. I didn’t want to exercise to music as I was surrounded by noise all day long, I wanted something quiet. After stumbling across a survey in a women’s magazine about what exercise suits your personality I was paired with yoga. Then when searching for my nearest local class I came across Iyengar Yoga and was lucky to have Senior Teacher Julie Brown as my local teacher. After practising for 21 years, (this year), and qualifying as an Junior Intermediate III Iyengar teacher I have enjoyed the transition where yoga is now not an escape, it is incorporated into my everyday life. It permeates everything during the day from the way I sit, to the way I see myself. Yoga has helped me to grow strong both internally and externally. I am enthusiastic about teaching others the amazing benefits of Iyengar yoga and how it becomes more than just a physical exercise.

Description: St Elisabeth’s, a grade 1 listed building, has been at the heart of the Reddish community since 1883 and now Iyengar yoga joins this community. The classes are open to everyone, entrance is via the Tower door, the door I am pointing to in the picture. Equipment is on site although bring a blanket if you can. St Elisabeth’s is a perfect location to enjoy Iyengar yoga and easy for you to get to especially if you live in Stockport, The Heatons and of course Reddish. There is plenty of parking on the street outside, the church itself is on the green around the corner from Houldsworth Mill, off Houldsworth Street, just off Leamington Road and easily visable on Bedford Street, SK5 6DH. Intermediate Yoga online

Must have 5/6 years experience and be able to do Salamba Sirsasana and Salamba Sarvangasana independently. i.e. without the help of a teacher. CLASS CURRENTLY FULL General, suitable for beginners

Description: Popular Yoga class suitable for all in the heart of Chorlton. Situated in beautiful St Clements Church in the Upper Hall, 6 Edge Lane, Chorlton. There is a car park at the back of the church the entrance to the car park is on St Clements Road, the main entrance to the church is on Edge Lane itself. There are two doors, use the big old pink/red colour door with iron fittings. Classes run every week apart from some holidays around half term, Christmas and Easter

Cost: £36 for 6 classes or £7 drop in price.
