Jenni Doohan

Bio:

I became a certified Iyengar yoga teacher in 2001 and then set up classes in New Milton. I passed the Junior Intermediate level 3 assessment in 2007. Under the new levels, I am a Level III teacher.   I have travelled twice to the RIMYI (Iyengar Yoga Institute) in Pune to study for a month each time with members of the Iyengar family and RIMYI Indian teachers. I enjoy teaching both mixed ability classes and improver classes in pleasant venues in New Milton. During the pandemic, I continued teaching by using Zoom. I now teach mostly face-to-face classes, although my Monday evening classes are still on Zoom. My classes are  welcoming, and I see each of my classes as being a friendly community. The focus is on alignment and awakening the body, observing the breath and mind, and going further inward with the awareness to eventually find inner tranquillity and calm. My interests include Indian philosophy, Indian mythology, world literature and history. I served on the Dorset and Hampshire Iyengar Yoga Executive Committee from 2005 until 2020, first as recording secretary and then as chairman. I continue to develop my own practice and knowledge by studying with Senior and Advanced Iyengar yoga teachers from both the UK and abroad.
