I have been practicing Iyengar yoga for 20 years. I love sharing this wonderful method with everyone I meet, I particularly value its power to reduce stress and anxiety as well as the aches and pains that we all suffer from generally.

As a movement lover and former gymnast and coach, finding Yoga in my 20s was like coming home! I have been practicing yoga since 1999 and teaching since 2013. I teach all levels, all ages and all bodies including pre and post-pregnancy, injuries and those suffering from disease and anatomical issues. I am also a Teacher Mentor. I have assisted in weekly medical/therapy classes and in 2021 I taught on the Long Covid Medical study. I pride myself on giving students individual care and attention and helping them to find a practice suitable to their body. My love of Iyengar is combined with my love and practice of holistic therapies and movement.

Aidan Love
Aidan started attending Iyengar yoga classes in London in 1997 and was instantly drawn to it. It helped to give him freedom from a long-standing back problem and he also enjoyed the calming effects on the mind that the practice brings. He completed the Iyengar two-year introductory teacher-training programme in 2006, and currently holds a Level 3 certification.
Aidan has been lucky enough to study over long periods with some very experienced teachers in the UK including Glenys Shephard and Sheila Haswell. He has also been fortunate enough to be taught by Geeta Iyengar, Abhijata Iyengar, Gulnaz Dashti, Stephane Lalo and many other inspiring teachers from other countries too.
Aidan hopes to share the benefits of yoga with those he teaches. He believes that yoga can help everyone to realise their potential and live more balanced and fulfilled lives. His experience is that the practice of yoga equips us to rise to the challenges of our bodies and the stresses of life, as well as directing us inexorably towards a more connected relationship with our inner selves and the wider world. He has an established Pranayama and meditation practice as well as a fascination with many different aspects of Indian Philosophy. He likes to weave aspects of Yoga philosophy into his classes.
Aidan moved to Istanbul in 2009 and has been teaching at various studios there since moving there. He continues his other work as a musician/producer and also as a director of Heliotrope Yoga Holidays..
He currently divides his time between Turkey and the UK.

I live and teach in the market town of Hexham, Northumberland. I started practising yoga when i was pregnant with my first child in 2002 whilst living in London. In 2007, after moving to the north east of England, I was fortunate to find a wonderful and inspiring Iyengar teacher - Alicia Lester - through whom I developed a passion for Iyengar yoga. Alicia encouraged me to start the teacher training programme with Margaret Austin and I gave up practising law to focus on yoga (although I do now lecture in law). I feel very fortunate to have had such inspiring teachers and I continue to attend Margaret's weekly teachers class.
I have visited Pune and studied with the Iyengar family and continue to attend weekly zoom classes with RIMYI teachers.
I am membership secretary for the North East England Iyengar Yoga Member Group and am a registered mentor for trainee teachers.

I’m a fully qualified Iyengar yoga teacher based in Bristol.
I went to my first Iyengar class when I was in my late 20s & it has been a huge & important part of my life ever since. I have sought out Iyengar teachers everywhere I have lived or worked & travelled to India for intensive Iyengar courses.
I love the integrity of Iyengar yoga & the careful attention it gives to alignment which can be transformative; I love too the humility it encourages in those who practise. As a student & a teacher of Iyengar yoga I value its accessibility & the way it can be adapted to work for each individual. The potential for apparently small adjustments to have profound effects on the body, mind & emotions of anyone who practises Iyengar yoga, at any level, energises & inspires my teaching.
I’m also an actor & theatre practitioner with a working life that is unpredictable & ever-changing. I treasure the balance, steadiness & space offered by Iyengar yoga as well as the opportunity to always learn more, discover & develop understanding.

Yoga found me about 2010, It has given me a new lease of life. Yoga inspires me continuously to become healthier, mentally and physically, to be fully present with my life as it unfolds. I did the teacher training course, because immediately could feel the benefits and wanted to help others feel the same about themselves. I qualified as a teacher in 2016. I hope to give back some of these qualities to help improve peoples lives around me, in the emotional well being and physical aspect that yoga can bring... Passing on this beautiful ancient art form.

Practiced yoga for nearly 20 years and Iyengar yoga specifically since 2011. Qualified as an Iyengar teacher in 2016, passing the Introductory Iyengar yoga teacher assessment. Since the first Iyengar yoga classes I attended I was wanted to learn more about the wonderful practice and teachings of yoga. Iyengar yoga is an excellent discipline which enhances and impacts positively on all aspects of life. It is a joy to practice, teach and help others start a new journey.

I have been practising for over 40 years and qualified at senior 3 in November 2004. I have been to Pune several times and studied with the Iyengar family over many years, in addition to working with many other well known teachers, from this country and abroad.
My student base is varied in terms of age and ability and it is valuable to learn from them – what works for one student may not work for another – being flexible in approach is therefore important, whilst honouring the lineage of Iyengar yoga.

I began practicing Iyengar Yoga in 2016 as a way to build strength, flexibility, and focus, and it quickly became an essential part of my life. After years of dedicated practice, I qualified as a Level 1 Iyengar Yoga teacher in January 2025.
I was mentored for over three years by Level 3 teacher Aimi Dunstan and continue to develop my practice by attending her weekly class. I also attend a dedicated teachers’ class with Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher Margaret Austin to further refine my understanding and teaching skills.
I am passionate about making Iyengar Yoga accessible to everyone, no matter their experience or ability. My teaching emphasizes alignment, precision, and mindful movement, helping students develop both physical stability and inner awareness.
I currently teach in Hexham, Northumberland, where I create a welcoming and supportive space for students to explore their practice. Whether you’re new to yoga or looking to deepen your understanding, I look forward to guiding you on your journey.

Andrew Paine
Andrew has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 2010, gaining his Junior Intermediate 2 certificate in 2015. He continues to study with Senior Teachers to improve his own practice, and refine his teaching style.
As a qualified life coach and facilitator, Andrew is interested in helping others develop their practice through self awareness, observation and reflection. He creates a safe space through which students are encouraged to develop their practice through ‘courage & caution’, ’trial & error’ in order that they can strengthen and fine tune both body and mind.
Andrew is interested in how the tradition and teachings of Yoga can be applied off the mat, out of the classroom and into everyday life.

I first discovered Iyengar Yoga whilst travelling in India in 2001. Immediately I was hooked, and upon my return to Glasgow, was delighted to be able to continue the journey. I had tried other forms of Yoga but with my Physiotherapy background, it was Iyengar Yoga that made so much sense as it pays great attention to detail in body alignment and precision of poses. Through continued practice , I soon discovered not only tremendous physical benefits but emotional and mental calm as well. I was delighted when the opportunity arose to study to become a teacher, it seemed a natural step. And so the journey continues. I hope I can do Mr Iyengar proud in sharing this wonderful science with others. I teach both Adults and Children and was Assistant Teacher in the IYUK 2021 Long Covid Pilot Study which delivered Online Yoga for Students with Long Covid. I teach Face to Face, Online and Hybrid Classes
