Sandra Grant

Hi, My names Sandra and I’m a Beginners level Teacher. I came to Iyengar yoga in 2005 with a need to correct my posture. I had been suffering with an unknown back complaint that wasn’t diagnosed until 2019 as spondylolisthesis. It can still bother me today but it is far less severe and I have all the tools I need, through my yoga practice, to alleviate the symptoms, enabling me to avoid costly private therapist fees and on top, I receive all the other benefits that come with a rounded yoga practice. I tend to be overactive; I used to be a keen runner (my heart was there before the spondy), I have also toyed with triathlon and I climbed regularly from 30 – 35. Recently I discovered calisthenics which I have really taken to because it follows the attention to detail and form that Iyengar encouraged and yes I enjoy looking a bit more muscular and pushing myself to improve my strength gains. The human body is fascinating. I would love for others to embrace and discover their own bodies, whatever it shows them and be patient while working through some of it’s discomforts/misalignments.
