Nepal Yoga-Trek to Annapurna Base Camp
Event Description:
A fully supported tea-house trek through the iconic Annapurna mountain range to Annapurna Base Camp. We convene in Kathmandu, then fly to Pokhara, Nepal’s lakeside gem. Driving on into the mountains we meet our team of porters at the trail head in Jinhu Danda and enjoy a dip in the hot springs. The following day we stretch
our legs with a first hike to the beautiful village of Sinwa, 5 hours away. During our seven days of trekking through the middle hills of the Annapurna range we will cross vertiginous suspension bridges, plunge deep into rhododendron forests, climb winding stone staircases upon high ridges, pausing to take in astounding views.
Our lodgings on trek are family-run tea-houses in traditional villages, offering us an insight into local customs and culture. Once en route, daily yoga sessions align perfectly with trekking. We practise where possible outdoors in the villages where we are staying or on the trail. Our early-morning sessions help us start the day’s trek fully energized. We might pause before lunch for a half-hour of asana (posture) work and finish with a recuperative end-of-trek relaxation session. Throughout much of the trek we are accompanied by the giant Himalayan peak of Machhapuchhre, with its iconic fish tail summit. Approaching higher altitudes the scenery becomes more alpine and gradually opens out
to reward us with astonishing views of the High Himalaya and some of the highest peaks in the world. The trek returns us to Pokhara and a chance to explore some in-depth recuperative yoga in this beautiful lake city before flying back to Kathmandu.
