Iyengar yoga (active beginners yoga) with Claire
Class Description:
New to yoga? Or starting back after a while?
Join Claire for this active yoga class building strength and flexibility on Tuesday or Thursday evenings 6-7.15pm.
This is a back-to-basics class for beginners or ongoing practitioners who want to keep it simple. Find freedom and joy in movement, and inner focus and attention in held poses. Deepen your understanding of your body and postural & movement habits. Both are natural to the human body and part of the physical practice of yoga. Explore how you might find greater space and serenity through asana (poses), pranayama (breath) and pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses) and all the 8 limbs of yoga.
What can I expect?
- a short centering at the start
- movement, to loosen stiffness and generate warmth and energy
- still, static poses for mindful awareness and deeper engagement
- learning inversions – we start with shoulderstand – alternatives given if it’s not yet within your remit
- breath awareness
- relaxation to end
You can choose a 10-class pass valid for 12 weeks £80, 6-classes valid for 7 weeks at £54 or a single class (valid for a week) £10. Concessionary rates available if money is a barrier to attendance. Buy online here.
