Bio:
I attended my first Iyengar yoga class in Cornwall in 2003, I remember leaving that class and feeling taller, the improvements on my spine were really felt so I kept going. Over time and practice I noticed that it wasn't just my spine and posture that improved, I believe that my Iyengar yoga practice helped balance my hormones and I used my breath practice in childbirth. My Iyengar yoga practice has developed space in my body and gives me space and clarity in my mind. Now, as an older woman it helps me deal with life changes that I experience and the challenges of hormonal shifts, it is great for helping with stiffness and joint problems. We can use equipment to help us get into the poses with ease and still feel the benefits that the pose brings. I am also interested in the philosophy of yoga, the Sutras of Patanjali are metaphors for life. This is why I love the Iyengar method, it is inclusive, open to everyone, there is a way to practice at whatever level you may find yourself, if we are very flexible we can learn to strengthen and if we are stiff we can become more flexible, in both mind and body.
